Our Registered Nurse
Meet Nurse Kat
Well hi there! My name is Kat and I’m so excited to be here and meet all of you!
Kat
RN
I am many things, but most cherished is my role as a mother of two adult children and a Grandma to two beautiful littles! My oldest (daughter) is a cardiac RN and my youngest (son) has his sights on the trades. I am also a wife, married to my best friend and most talented compassionate human, James. James is a semi-retired Group Life Coordinator at a youth correctional facility who specializes in therapeutic treatments and positive human development utilizing the Fine Arts; pottery in particular. He has been ministering to challenged youth and young adults for over 40 years! He is also a Jack Of All Trades and saves us so much money not having to hire out repairs of any kind! Such a blessing.
My other role is a Registered Nurse with a heart and passion for serving others. I’ve been an “official” nurse since 2007 starting my RN path later in life to focus on my family, though I’ve had the heart of a nurse and wanting to help others heal since childhood. I used to play nurse with our farm animals and my younger siblings as a young child. I started my nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in a fast-paced acute care setting and went on to earn my Registered Nurse (RN) degree while working part time LPN. During my hospital journey I worked in Med/Surg, Telemetry, Mother/Baby (so fun!!) and Emergency nursing then made the shift to Home Health Case Management (Medical and Psych nursing). This area of nursing is where I felt the most personal and heart-felt connection with those whom I served. There is something beautiful about being invited/allowed into a patient’s home…their safe space to support, educate and treat their medical needs. I quickly learned this area of nursing wasn’t just medical, it was mind/body/spirit and it resonated in my soul.
Now, 12-years later, a shift I didn’t see coming but was clearly a God-thing and an open door I knew I needed to walk through. While the technicalities and regulations of this RN role for Bee Loved Care Homes is a new area of nursing for me, the beautiful souls they serve are not new to my life’s experience. As the first of 76 adopted children, I grew up with siblings with developmental disabilities, some medically fragile. Then, as a young adult and single mother, I went on to work as a Senior Supervisor at a Christian Children’s Home in Idaho and helped care for abused, abandoned, emotionally impaired and developmentally delayed kids, teens and young adults. Now in this role with Bee Loved, my life seems to have come full circle. I can’t help but chuckle a little as I reflect on life’s twists and turns and see the larger picture for the pain, personal growth, grace, grit and determination…God’s hand in it all, guiding me back to what is intimately and dearly familiar to my soul.
I entertain dreams of going to places I’ve never been like Maine and the Blue Mountains of Virginia in the Fall (my favorite season); a cruise to Alaska with my husband; Disneyland with my grand babes because I’m still a kid at heart. I love to ride bikes, nature walks and scouting for sand dollars on the beach…anything coastal is the bomb for me! 😊 That’s all. That’s just a little about me. I am so happy to be here. I look forward to getting to know all of you more and being able to partner with you in our heart’s mission in serving others!
